Sanchez Prevails for Road Race Win

Samuel Sanchez, a 30-year-old cyclist from Spain, endured Beijing’s heat, humidity, and oppressive air quality to win the Olympic road race, a 245.4km (152 mile) route that crisscrosses the city of Beijing. Relative of US Volleyball Coach Killed in Beijing

ESPN is reporting this morning that relatives of a US Volleyball coach were attacked by a knife-wielding man around mid-day today while they were sightseeing at the 13th century Drum Tower, located just five miles away from the Olympic Green. The Games of the XXIX Olympiad begin in Beijing at 8pm local time tomorrow night (8am EDT). The taped NBC broadcast begins in the US at 730pm EDT. After all of the training, all of the preparation, all of the anticipation…it’s time!
