FIS World Champion Nina Li Defends Title

2005 FIS World Champion Nina Li successfully defended her title Saturday at the 2007 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships at Madonna di Campiglio. Ranked 4th after the first jump, she reclaimed the gold with a solid second jump as leading athletes made mistakes.

Begg-Smith Wins 7th World Cup Victory

Canadian-born freestyle skier Begg-Smith wins in the first moguls event of the World Cup held in Canada. It’s his seventh world cup win and ninth podium placing for eleven events of his career.

Hurricane Hands Han (CHN) His Gold!

Xiaopeng Han’s (China) aerial acrobatics propelled him to first place in the Men’s Aerial Freestyle Skiing event. Han’s total score was 250.77, 2.09 points ahead of his nearest competitor, Dmitry Dashinski (Belarus), and 4.01 ahead of the bronze medalist, Vladimir Lebedev (Russia).

Men’s Aerial Freestyle Skiing is definately a sport!

Now THAT’s entertainment! So far the Canadians are leading the preliminary qualifications (it’s still early however) .. with their “BACK/FULL-DOUBLE FULL-FULL” jumps … *wow*
Remember .. this is MUCH different than, for instance, USA’s “BACK/DOUBLE FULL-FULL-FULL” ..
Geesh .. I have to research this sport .. I don’t even know what I’m talking about!

Canada’s First Gold!

Canada’s Jennifer Heil brought home the gold today in the Women’s Moguls!
A native of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Heil barely beat out Norwegian and French skiiers Traa and Laoura. Here are the final points and times:
Heil: 26.50, 26:69
Traa: 25.65, 27:33
Laoura: 25.37, 26:67
