Canada’s Lamaze Wins Equestrian Jumping Event!

Canada’s gold medal count increased again today when Eric Lamaze won the men’s individual show-jumping competition at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.  He beat Sweden’s Rolf-Goran Bengtsson in a jump-off.  American Beezie Madden took the bronze Thursday after winning a seven-way jump-off.

Olympic Horses Banned for Doping?

Wow.  I can’t even believe this story.  Four horses have been banned from competing at the jumping competition today at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games because they tested positive for the banned substance, capsaicin.  The affected horses were from Brazil, Germany, Ireland and Norway.

Germany Leads Equestrian Eventing after Cross Country

It’s the Germans in front after the cross-country event, the second phase of the equestrian eventing competition. They are followed by Australia and Great Britain.
The rain-soaked course proved challenging to the horses and riders. In fact, none finished within the time limit, so leaders were determined by who had the fewest penalty points.
