Diving has been a part of the Olympic games since 1904. Originally, only platform diving was included. Springboard was added in 1908. Women’s platform was first included in the 1912 Olympics and women’s springboard in the 1920 games. Sychronized diving was added to the games in 2000.

For the 2008 Games, there are eight events:

• 10m platform Men
• 3m springboard Men
• synchronized diving 10m platform Men
• synchronized diving 3m springboard Men

Each dive is judged by a panel of seven judges, on such elements as approach, take-off, execution and entry into the water. Nine judges access a sychronized dive.

The diving events in Beijing will take place at the Ying Tung Natatorium (pictured above), which seats 4852 spectators.
