US Olympic swimmer, Eric Shanteau revealed today that he was diagnosed with testicular cancer shortly before the US Olympic Trials Swim Meet last week. Shanteau finished second in the men’s 200m breast stroke event, earning himself a ticket to Beijing.
Shanteau told the Associated Press this morning that he was advised to have surgery, but has decided to wait until after Beijing.
He said also that he’s already heard from Lance Armstrong, who overcame a similar cancer to win the Tour de France for a seventh time.
