Russian Skater Denies Drugging Herself
Last month, I wrote about the alleged drugging of Russian ice dancer, Oksana (Pasha) Grishuk, who claimed that, while meeting someone at a Newport Beach hotel, she was slipped the date-rape drug in several of her drinks. The incident is said to have occurred on April 12th of this year.
Things began commonly enough - her date, James R. Holmstead, was charged with one felony count of administering the drug to Grishuk without her knowledge. This is where the investigation has gone awry. Toxicology reports show no traces of the drug in her system despite the fact that she reports feeling the effects. Further, the surveillance cameras have not provided any evidence that would substantiate her claims. Holmstead claims the two were in a romantic relationship and believes that Grishuk retaliated against his refusal to marry her by putting the pills in her own drink. She denies this claim: “I’m a single mom. I have a 5-year-old daughter who I love more than anything in the world. Why would I risk my life?”
I sincerely hope she didn’t drug herself because, as she points out, it would be a terrible thing to do, especially as the mother of a young child. I will continue monitoring this story for new developments.
