London Scales Back Olympic Spending
The new mayor of London has announced that he wants to tighten the “financial management” of the 2012 Olympic Games. While chairing his first Olympic Board meeting, Boris Johnson, scaled back the plans for the hospitality venue, “London House,” which will promote the hosts at the Beijing Olympics. So far, he has cut 18 gourmet chefs, reduced the number of delegates attending the festivities, downgraded their accommodations and everyone must fly economy. Is it worth it? You decide - his actions will save the committee 1.2 million pounds.
“The Olympic Games are important to London, as is our presence during the Beijing Games, but I want to ensure every aspect is kept under tight financial control,” Johnson said. “There were some pretty unrealistic things planned, which would have cost a lot of taxpayer money, but which would have had marginal value to Londoners.”
Johnson will receive the Olympic flag on behalf of London officials during the closing ceremony of the Beijing Games.

If London did not want to foot the bill, they shouldnt have bid on the games. Get that cheap SOB out of the picture before he ruins things. Now is the time for changes to be made, not within 2 years of the games. I hate to see the games held in a country that dont really put much emphasis on athletics. USA USA
