Ethiopian distance-running legend, Haile Gebrselassie, will represent his country at the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics.  The 35-year-old will compete in the 10,000m event despite bowing out of the road race over concerns pertaining to poor air quality.

Gebreselassie currently holds the world marathon record of 2 hours 4 minutes 26 seconds and has won gold medals at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games.

No doubt as Haile is great athlete in this century but there are other young athletes who are faster than Hile like Kenenissa;how ever his participation will be a good motive for the young athletes.
