China’s Yang Wei Win’s Men’s All-Around Gymnastics Title
Chinese gymnast Yang Wei has won the men’s individual all-around gymnastics title! He started the competition with a lead that he held on to right until the end. He clinched the top spot with 94.575 points. This is a fitting victory for the Chinese athlete - he won the world title in both 2006 and 2007 and took home the silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Games.
Initially, many believed it was going to be a tight race between Yang and American gymnast, Paul Hamm, but Hamm had to drop out due to injury. Canada’s Adam Wong placed 15th.
Japan’s Kohei Uchmiura and Benoit Caranobe of France won the silver and bronze respectively.
