Beijing’s Olympic National Stadium Opens
The Olympic National Stadium in Beijing opened to the public this past week. Dubbed the “Bird’s Nest” because of its fanciful pattern of steel and concrete beams, the 90,000-seat stadium will host all of the track and field events at the 2008 summer Olympic Games as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.
