Rundown of the Sports Disciplines @ Rio 2007
Just to give you guys an idea — esp if you’re relatively new to this world sporting event — on the kinds of sports/disciplines/events that are played during the 2007 Pan American Games, which is held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
| Archery | Artistic Gymnastics | Athletics | Badminton | |||
| Baseball | Basketball | Beach Volleyball | Bowling | |||
| Boxing | Canoe Flatwater | Cycling BMX | Cycling Mountain Bike | |||
| Cycling Road | Cycling Track | Diving | Equestrian | |||
| Fencing | Field Hockey | Football | Futsal | |||
| Handball | Judo | Karate | Modern Pentathlon |
| Rhythmic Gymnastics | Roller Skating - Artistic | Roller Skating - Speed | Rowing | |||
| Sailing | Shooting | Softball | Squash | |||
| Swimming | Synchronized Swimming | Table Tennis | Taekwondo | |||
| Tennis | Trampoline Gymnastics | Triathlon | Volleyball | |||
| Water Polo | Water Ski | Weightlifting | Wrestling |
This list reminds me of the kinds of events played during the Commonwealth Games, probably because of the sport, Squash. There certainly is a variation in the events. I like the fact that they held competitions over Futsal, Canoe in Flatwater, Beach Volleyball, Water Polo, Trampoline Gymnastics, and even Rollerskating with events in Artistic and Speed!
Definitely tapped into more specific sports that you don’t get in other international competitions. It helped put the spotlight on athletes excelling in them. Coolness.
