Press Release | IOC signs 2008, 2010 and 2012 broadcast rights deal for the Philippines
7 July 2007 - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has awarded the broadcast rights for the Olympic Games in 2008, 2010 and 2012 to Solar Entertainment in the Philippines, it was announced today.
Solar Entertainment will offer increased coverage of the Olympic Games across a number of TV channels, including a commitment to air over 200 hours of live or same-day delayed coverage of the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games and a daily highlights programme for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.
IOC President Jacques Rogge said “We are very happy to announce this partnership with Solar Entertainment. Our aim is to enable as many people as possible are able to enjoy the Olympic Games in the Philippines”.
IOC Executive Board member Richard Carrión, who led the negotiations, said “This agreement is great news for the Olympic Movement, for Solar Entertainment and for the people of the Philippines who are keen to see more of the Olympic Games, on television but also through new platforms.”
