Our Olympic Duty: Unity Against Doping
“Unity against doping is our duty.” — IOC President Rogge
This is a call for a unified effort from all supporters of the Olympic Games to fight against the issue of dope use by participants.
It’s a perennial thing, this issue on dope. It never fails to baffle me on how many news you read about an athlete getting banned, disqualified or stripped off a medal. I’d rather drop it that dwell on it, actually.
It’s quite an irony, really. So, you broke the world record of some event but you doped your way to it? Where’s the honour in that? Pah.
Since the Games are just around the corner, reinforcing this fight against doping is well expected. It’s becoming quite the norm.
Er, excuse me — I think I’m just having a bad day. I reckon it’ll be better if you go and have a look at the speech yourself —
You can read the full speech, “Unity Against Doping Is Our Duty”.
As for me, I’m doped out. Heh.
