Foster & Finchum Win Titles in the Speedo USA Diving Spring National Championships
BOYDS, Md. – Nancilea Foster (Spring, Texas) and Thomas Finchum (Indianapolis) closed out the Speedo USA Diving Spring National Championships by winning individual titles in women’s 3-meter and men’s 10-meter, respectively, on Sunday afternoon. Foster scored 347.25 points in her win, and Finchum tallied 512.05 points for his victory.
It was Foster’s first individual title for her career. She placed sixth during the World Championships last month.
While Finchum has been performing dominantly in the last four major national meets. In 2006, Boudia won the U.S. Open and the national championship, and Finchum was second in both meets. At the 2005 national championships, Finchum was first and Boudia second. Earlier this week, they won their third national title together in 10-meter synchro after taking bronze on the event at the 2007 World Championships. David Boudia placed second during this meet.
On this meet, it was his notable last dive, a back 2 ½ with 1 ½ twists, that clinched the title after getting 10s from all but one judge.
I wonder how these divers will do in the upcoming 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
