World Boxers Off to the Cuban Olympic Games
Boxers from 11 countries will be competing in the 3rd Cuban Olympic Games, Boxing tournament that’s going to be held in Camaguey, Cuba from 29 April - 05 May 2006.
The article said that officials confirmed that fighters will be coming from the following countries: United States, Kazajstan, China, the Dominican Republic, Bahamas, El Salvador, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela.
The Dominican Republic, U.S. and Colombian selections will compete with boxers in all divisions, and the Venezuelan division will bring two teams.
There will be 66 boxers will be representing Cuba in this competition, four of which are Olympic champions and five are winners of other championships. The Cuban boxers are divided into six teams, representing the West, Center and East of the country.

Oh there are? Surprise, surprise… We have had an embargo on Cuba since the 1960s.

And that hasn’t been lifted? Curious. Americans sure know how to bear a grudge, eh? Ah, well — US Politics isn’t my forte but yours ;)

Why would it be lifted? It was put in place to force Fidel Castro from power and he is still in power.

To tell you the truth, I have no clue what the goings on are between Cuba and the US, which I’m sure you already know. Or you’re just trying to educate me?
